Pattaya Walking Street (South Pattaya)
If you've heard of Pattaya, you've probably heard of Walking Street. This half-kilometre beachside street takes its name from the fact that it is closed to motorised traffic from 6 pm every night, at which point it immediately becomes thronged with party-going pedestrians. Almost every building on both sides of the road is a nightclub or bar of some description, with many surrounding small sois being much the same.
Great nights out can be found from the giant screen over the Walking Street sign at one end of the street to Mixx Discotheque at the other. Among the best in between are 808, Club Insomnia, Candy Shop, Marine Disco, and Lucifer 2.0.
Cabaret Show(North Pattaya)
Several cabaret shows are dotted around Pattaya, the most notable being Tiffany's Show. Others include Kaan Show and Colosseum Show. Each has a cast of hundreds of glamorous dancers, hilarious comedians and other performers, guaranteeing a fun, lively and varied night out. While most shows are generally family-friendly, they do skirt the line of adult humour.
Horizon Rooftop Restaurant and BarExplore the Beautiful Beaches of Pattaya (Hilton Pattaya)
The Hilton Pattaya building dominates the city's skyline, easily the tallest building on Pattaya Beach Road, if not the most towering in the whole area. Right at the top – on the 34th floor – is the Horizon Bar. It's presumably so named because it's so far up that you can see the curvature of the Earth from the balcony. The best place to enjoy a drink with a view, the buy-1-get-1-free offer on selected cocktails (including old favourites and house specials) from 5 pm to 7 pm makes it a fantastic place to enjoy the marvellous sunsets. While there are comfortable sofas available, the high bar stools and the tables by the railings are where you'll see most people rushing to claim. Get there early or book ahead if you want to claim yours.
Open: Daily from 4 pm to 11 pm.
Hard Rock Café Pattaya (North Pattaya)
The Hard Rock franchise is well-known worldwide for its quirky style and great music. From the iconic giant guitar head and "no drugs or nuclear weapons allowed inside" neon sign over the door to the collection of music and movie memorabilia inside, it certainly has the style. The music starts at 6 pm on the Sun & Moon deck, which looks out over Beach Road. The house band starts at 9.30 pm and plays into the early hours. The excellent rock groups are frequently rotated, with notable guest bands regularly appearing. The attached Hard Rock Hotel also hosts some of the best foam parties in the region, the Miss Hard Rock beauty contest and the annual guitar festival.
Muay Thai Boxing
Thai kickboxing is world-famous, and Pattaya has more ways to enjoy the sport than most. You can see the professionals at work in shows or championship matches at Max Muay Thai and Pattaya Boxing World on Sukhumvit Road, see rising stars in the amateur leagues at the Thepprasit Boxing Stadium or watch about over a beer on Walking Street with a ring or 2 along the famous road surrounded by beer bars. In the last of these options, brave punters can get in the ring and try their luck against the house fighters. It's a fast-paced and aggressive sport, best enjoyed as a spectator.
